Youth Arts Program at Arts Umbrella

Our Youth Arts Program was designed to give children the skills, encouragement and environment they need to explore and develop their natural creativity. Classes are taught by artists and fine art skills are emphasized. Although children are encouraged to use reference material to help them observe and understand their chosen subject matter, teachers strongly encourage work that reflects individuality and personal vision. Projects are chosen not only to refine each student's visual skills but to expose them to a wide variety of media (pencil, pastels, oil pastels, water color, scratchboard, sculpey, acrylic paint, etc.). Many of our students have been accepted at art colleges around the country
We offer art classes for K thru High School
"Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else".

January 2021 - June 2021 (summer July & August)
Due to Covid 19 our schedule has many class changes to reflect the ongoing changes to the school districts in our area. We have only scheduled our classes to the end of the year and we will see what 2021 brings! Below are the precautions we are taking to ensure the safety of our youth artists.
- Our room has 17 tables (30x60), we will be distancing our students with a 8 student maximum.
- We will be sanitizing surfaces. Hand sanitizers, gloves, surface cleaners and sprays are stocked to keep Arts Umbrella germ free.
- Butcher paper will be used for table coverings and will be changed between students.
- Masks will be required for parents, teachers and students, we ask that students come with their own masks, however AU will have backup masks.
- AU will be cleaned and fully sanitized after each class
- Our restroom, sink, toilet and door handles, will be sanitized between uses.
- Windows and doors will be open to provide fresh air circulation.
- Arts Umbrella will be using a no-contact thermometer.
- Check in and pick up will be handled similarly to grocery store check out lines-spaced 6 feet apart, marked clearly on the floor, one door for entrance, another door for exit.
